Hepatoma or HCC

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), or hepatoma, is a malignant tumor in the liver and is one of the most common types of liver cancer, originating from the liver’s functional cells. This cancer almost always develops in a damaged liver. Certain chronic conditions, such as hepatitis B and C, as well as liver cirrhosis, increase the risk of developing hepatoma.
If malignant liver cancer has not spread to other parts of the body, a liver transplant surgery can be performed in which the entire liver is removed and replaced with a donated liver. The Abu Ali Sina Shiraz Specialized Hospital is recognized as the most active center for liver transplantation and surgery in the world.
